Correlation of milk urea level with physico-chemical and nutritional composition of diets for cattle in Pichincha province
The objective of the research was to determine the Milk Urea Nitrogen (MUN) levels and use it as a metabolite that helps to determine if the energy/protein balance is correct, and its impact on productive parameters. Urea is the end product of protein metabolism, when urea is produced it spreads to all body tissues and is present in cow urine, saliva and milk. Pasture protein and crude fiber in the supplement are directly related to MUN levels. MUN exhibited an inverse relation with milk protein and also relates to milk production (liters milk/cow/day) and lactation period.
