Malformaciones atribuibles a insectos y ácaros en flora espontánea y cultivada en trece zonas del departamento del Valle

Galls caused by insects and acari, found in wild and cultivated plants were studied. Sixtyfour plant species (10 are cultivated plants), belonging to 34 families and 46 genera were found affected by such galls. Families which presented the greatest number of species with galls were:Melastomataceae, Compositae and Lauraceae (6 species); Mimosaceae and Rubaiceae (3 species). Acari, particulary the Erio- phyd, as well ?.s insects, were found responsible of 50 per cent of deformations, each one. Plant organs in which galls were detected arc: leaves (72 per cent of host plants), stems (25 o/o), roots and fruits (1.5 o/o).
