Intrascleral prosthesis implantation as handling of glaucoma in puma (Puma concolor Linnaeus, 1758)

An adult male of american lion (Puma concolor) of the Santacruz Zoo (Colombia), evidenced to the ophthalmologic examination of the right eye gross buphthalmo, enlarged of episcleral veins, epiphora, retinal atrophy, lens luxation and complete vision lost like the most eminent signs. Due to the findings of the clinical examination and chronicity of the case we realized evisceration and implantation of intraocular prosthesis like part of the treatment of the chronic glaucoma. After surgery the puma showed a good recovery and adaptation to the prosthesis giving a suitable handling of the disease providing well-being to the animal.
