EFFECT OF L-Glutamine and L-Glutamate (Aminogut®) SUPPLEMENTATION ON THE EARLY GROWTH OF BROILERS

This study was carried out to evaluate the impact of a commercial mixture of L-glutamine and L-glutamate (amino-gut®) supplementation, on the performance of broilers during early growth period. 455 females and 455 males of COBB strain were utilized in this study. Three levels of the commercial mixture of L-glutamine and L-glutamate (0,5, 1,0 and 1,5%) and two supplementation periods (7 and 14 days) were investigated. The experimental diets were isocaloric and isoproteic. Body weight of broiler chicks was measured at 1, 8, 15 and 25 days of age and feed intake was determined among those periods. The broilers supplemented with the commercial mixture of L-glutamine and L-glutamate exhibited a better performance compared to unsupplemented groups. Feed intake decreased lineally with the level of inclusion of Aminogut® while feed conversion ratio was affected by the interaction between level of inclusion and sex, being the response better on 1,5% of Aminogut® supplementation in male broiler whereas in female broiler this response occurred at 1,0 and 1,5% of Aminogut® supplementation. Broilers supplemented during seven days, exhibited a mayor mortality (P = 0,0814) compared to 14 days. Broilers supplemented with 1,5% of Aminogut® showed a least cost of production compared to control group. In conclusion, the response to Aminogut® supplementation was associated with the sex of broiler and it was also observed a positive effect on performance and bio-economic balance during the early growth period of production.
