2020 Annual Report of the United Nations Interagency Task Force on Religion and Sustainable Development: Engaging with Religion and Faith-based Actors on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda

The UN Interagency Task Force on Religion and Sustainable Development (UN IATF-R) was established in 2010, at the behest of eight UN principals, as a platform for knowledge exchange and management, capacity building, system-wide guidance and oversight regarding engagement with faith-based/-inspired civil society actors. Since 2010, the UNIATF has established a momentum and modality of collaboration with a diverse range of faith-based/-inspired civil society partners. The UN IATF-R has grown considerably over the past years and currently brings together 27 UN entities from across the system who meet on a regular basis, and co-organize joint advocacy and capacity-building activities. It is encouraging to note the increased interest among UN-System partners in faith-related engagement, including in talking on coordination and leadership roles in support of the UN-System’s work in engaging faith-based organizations and networks. The 2020 Annual Report provides an overview of the engagement with faith-based actors and faith-related activities by the UN system members of the UN IATF-R, documenting activities, initiatives, and efforts undertaken by its membership 27 UN system entities. None of the opinions expressed here reflect those of the United Nations system, its member entities, Governing Board(s), or territory/territories.
