Update of the Study on Production costs in the Colombian oil palm Sector

The update presented at this conference refers to the costs study commissioned by Fedepalma in 2004 and conducted by Duarte Guterman and Co, with the initial purpose of finding out how competitive the oil palm agro-industry was in a progressive tariff reduction scenario in the domestic and international markets. This third approach shows that production costs, in constant 2005 terms, declined by 5 percent, especially because of lower extraction costs due to a better utilization of the installed capacity. However, this was offset by the appreciation of the Colombian peso

This third approach shows that production costs, in constant 2005 terms, declined by 5 percent, especially because of lower extraction costs due to a better utilization of the installed capacity.
