NM 02. Evaluation of dolomitic limestone sangali as a source of calcium in diets for broiler chicks
A trial It was run with 384 broiler chicks up to the age of 4 weeks with the purpose os evaluating dolomitic limestone Sangali (20.44 % Ca and 11.34 % Mg) as a source of calcium as a replacer of oyster shell. The following replacement percentages were the 4 treatments: 0, 33, 66 and 100. A completely randomized design was used and analysis of variance and polinomial regression were applied on data. Six replicates per treatment were used, and chicks were reared in electric batteries. Weight gain, diet and metabolizable energy consumption, feed efficiency, tibia ash percentage and ash Mg content data showed no statistical difference among treatments (P>.05). It was concluded that dolomitic limestone Sangali can fully replace oyster shell as a source of calcium.
