Headlines: (00:00-00:44) 2. The economy appears to be the big election theme as St. Kitts and Nevis prepares for election on March 6. Prime Minister Denzil Douglas announces the election date will be four months before its constitutionally due date. He is pleased with the early election date due to strong performance of his party over the last five years. (00:45-03:43) 3. Montserrat’s Chief Minister is being asked to reconsider a suggestion that would bar residents living abroad from exercising their franchise. Residents living overseas make up over two-thirds of the electorate and are outraged that they may have to provide evidence of their intentions to reside in Montserrat or return home for the elections. The proposal put forward by the Electoral Commission has been accepted by the British and Montserratians Wings of government. (03:44-07:01) 4. The matter surrounding the contempt of court case involving the Bahamian talk show host Obie Wilchcombe has not yet been resolved. Wilchcombe was charged for unwillingness to disclose to the coroner how he obtained a suicide letter written by death row inmate John Higgs. Higgs committed suicide hours before he was scheduled to be hanged. (07:02-08:33) 5. A group from the Virgin Islands wants to have their nationality adapted in hope they can be considered Caribbean people. In spite of their dual citizenship with either the United States or Great Britain, people from the Virgin Islands contend their lineage and history are closer to their regional neighbours. (08:34-11:30) 6. The Calypsonian Lord Kitchener is laid to rest and thousands of people have come to bid him farewell at the Trinity Cathedral in Port-of-Spain. He died last Friday from multiple myeloma.
