Simaroubaceae
Arbustos o árboles con amargas corteza, hojas y madera; hojas, pinadas, rara vez 1-3-folioladas alternativo o raramente opuesto o simples; inflorescencia generalmente axilares, paniculada o racimosa, a veces espigadas o de flores individuales; flores unisexuales o polygamodioecious, a veces perfecta; cáliz con 3-5 lóbulos o segmentos; pétalos 3-5 o raramente ninguno; estambres en la base del disco, 3-5 o muchos; samaroid fruta, drupáceo o capsular.
