Entedononecremnus funiculatus: parasitoid of aleurodicus sp. at Tamaulipas and Veracruz, Mexico

The eulophid Entedononecremnus funiculatus Myartseva was found parasitizing whiteflies Aleurodicus sp. associated with Malvaviscus arboreus L. and Psidium guajava L. Herewith, the parasitoid was first recorded for the state of Veracruz, México. Whiteflies (family Aleyrodidae), with more than 1,200 species in 126 genera, are important pests in all agricultural regions, especially tropical and subtropical regions, of the world (Caballero 1996). In Mexico, 27 genera with 67 species were reported (Carapia 2008). The Eulophidae has 297 genera, with 114 of them reported in the Neotropical region (Noyes 2002), and with 4,472 species grouped into 4 subfamilies: Entedoninae (87 genera and 1,307 species), Euderinae (17 genera and 148 species), Eulophinae (97 genera and 1,316 species), and Tetrastichinae (91 genera and 1,644 species). Entedononecremnus, which includes 17 species, belongs to the Entedoninae subfamily.
