[EN]: A floristic and ecologic analysis in 0,1 Ha of the savanna-like "dehesa" has been carried out in SW Spain. The resulting high diversity: 135 spp/0.1 Ha and 31.8 spp/ m2, makes the "dehesa" to be one of the vegetation types with highest diversity (at 0.1 Ha scale) in the world. Gramineae, Leguminosae and Compositae are the dominant families, and most of the species exhibit therophyte life-form. Five habitats have been distinguished: rock outcrops, base of trunk, canopy understory, open grassland and "hozaderos" (place where hogs root). The related grassland communities are compared according to their species diversity, intra-habitat homogeneity (HI) and floristic composition. The environmental heterogeneity will contribute to generate and maintain the hígh species richness of the "dehesa" landscape. Several hypothesis to explain the coexistence are discussed. [ES]: Se ha ensayado un método de análisis florístico y ecológico del pasto, en 0,1 Ha de dehesa del SO español. La alta diversidad obtenida, 135 spp/O,l Ha y 31,8 spp/m2, sitúa a la dehesa entre los tipos de vegetación con mayor riqueza en especies, a escala de O,1 Ha, del mundo. Las familias Gramineae, Leguminosae y Compositae son dominantes, así como el tipo biológico terófito. Se distinguen 5 hábitats: rocas, base de tronco, sombra de copa, pasto abierto y hozadero, y se comparan las comunidades correspondientes, según su diversidad, homogeneidad y semejanza en la composición florística. Se discuten diversas hipótesis que puedan explicar la alta diversidad de esta formación vegetal.
