Ecuador increases Andean crop conservation and development work
The work of INIAP (Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agropecuarias) in collecting and conserving Andean crops is briefly described. Currently 2061 accessions are maintained; 13 species are represented by 2001 of the accessions, including Chenopodium quinoa (430 accessions), maize (340), Prunus capuli (208), Amaranthus (207) and Ullucus tuberosus (191).
