Desde la realización de este encuentro técnico, se desarrolla en el país más investigación sobre el tema que en toda la historia de estas especies, situación que lleva a INFOR a organizar un segundo seminario al respecto en 1993. Para este segundo seminario se compromete la participación de especialistas invitados de Australia, Brasil, Francia e Inglaterra y se cuenta también con expertos asistentes de Estados Unidos, Sudáfrica y Argentina. Nuevamente hay una gran afluencia de público para la presentación de 37 exposiciones técnicas, dentro de los temas de Mejoramiento genético, Establecimiento y manejo de plantaciones, Plagas y enfermedades, Forestación en sitios con limitaciones especiales y Utilización.
