Developments in forest plantations in Malaysia - strategies and challenges.
The future trends for the Malaysian timber and timber export industry are discussed. The role of forest plantations in the future of the industry is discussed in relation to Malaysian ecosystems, and land use, species selection, the supply of quality planting material, labour and mechanization, and finance and private involvement. Recent government tax incentives and regulations to encourage private forest plantation ventures are outlined.
