Study of the triterpenic fraction of Litchi sinensis Sonn. and Euphoria longana Lam. seed oils.

Litchi [L. chinensis] and longan [Dimocarpus longan] seed oils contained 26.8 and 13.9 unsaponifiable matter, respectively. The triterpenic components were fractionated using 3 chromatographic techniques: GC, HPLC and argentation TLC. By using these 3 techniques simultaneously, six triterpene alcohols, four 4-methylsterols and six 4-desmethylsterols were isolated. The structures of these compounds were determined by proton NMR.
