The palm oil car - a user's experience.

In late 1992, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) then known as Pa1m Oil Re search institute Malaysia (PORIM) started an exhaustive trial of the palm oil car. This paper provides an insight into the use of the car which has clocked over 300 000 km and is still running. The highlights experienced in the use of the car are discussed with regard to problems encountered, innovations made and the high points reached in this milestone of MPOBs trial. Suggestions are made for further improvements to the palm oil car with the hope that this will pioneer our country as the first in the world towards a successful commerciali zation of a car that runs on palm oil and other vegetable oils, thus possibly pro viding a long-term price stabilization strategy for palm oil.
