Panama disease is come back : a major concern for the banana world
Banana research scientists met in Peru in June to review the spread of Panama disease (tropical race 4). The first stage in the effective control of this soil fungus is prophylaxis. The group thus made a number of recommendations for employees of the major fruit producing and processing companies, representatives of agrochemical companies and NGOs, certification inspectors, and any other visitor to banana plantations in South-East Asia and pineapple plantations in South America.
