Maestría en Ecoturismo El presente estudio, se planteó con el objetivo de analizar las cualidades que posee el Río Tumbes para práctica de actividades de ecoturismo y turismo de aventura, como opciones de desarrollo local; mediante, la descripción de los elementos de la oferta turística; la determinación de las expectativas de la demanda turística, la evaluación de los factores competencia y tendencias del mercado turístico, así como la descripción de los principales indicadores de desarrollo local con relación a estas modalidades de turismo, entre las localidades Rica Playa e Higuerón, jurisdicción de la provincia y departamento de Tumbes. Con tal propósito, se empleó los métodos de revisión documental, observación directa y el método basado en opinión; con técnicas como observación anotación, entrevistas a profundidad y aplicación de encuesta. Se realizó reconocimiento y observación de un espacio aproximado de 14 Km2, se entrevistó a líderes de cuatro caseríos, a funcionarios y operadores de turismo regionales y se encuestó a 96 potenciales turistas y 96 potenciales excursionistas regionales. Se encontró tres espacios con cualidades para ecoturismo y turismo de aventura que fueron definidos como tres tramos; se identificó la existencia de infraestructura y servicios básicos, incipientes servicios turísticos en el tramo uno, una demanda potencial con expectativas positivas por visitar el Río Tumbes, tendencias favorables en el mercado turístico para el mediano plazo, y un relativo aporte del turismo en el desarrollo local. En conclusión, dadas las cualidades del Río Tumbes y su entorno, el ecoturismo y el turismo de aventura, pueden ser considerados opciones de desarrollo local, debiendo llevarse a cabo mejoras en la oferta, mediante la asociatividad entre actores turísticos locales y regionales, así como una mayor articulación comercial. This research has been proposed with the objective of analyzing; Tumbes River qualities to practice of ecotourism and adventure tourism activities they are presented like options to achieve local development; through, the description of tourist offer elements; the determination of tourist demand expectations, the evaluation of competition factors and trends of tourism market, and the description of local development main indicators with these types of tourism, in Rica Playa and Higuerón, in the province and department of Tumbes. To achieve our purpose, documentary methods review, direct observation and it was used the opinion method; with annotation observation techniques, in-depth interviews and survey application. An approximately area of 14 km2 was surveyed and observed, leaders of four villages, officials and regional tourism operators were interviewed, and 96 potential tourists and 96 potential regional hikers were surveyed. It was found three spaces with ecotourism and adventure tourism qualities, these were defined in three sections; Infrastructure and basic services it was identified, tourist services at early stage in section one, a potential demand with positive expectations for Tumbes River visiting, the favorable trends in the tourist market for the medium term, and a relative tourism contribution in local development.
