National forestry development plan

Intending to contribute to its diffusion, the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry publishes this edition of the National Forest Development Plan, NFDP, proposed three years ago. The importance of the Plan is relevant, since it will guide Colombian forest proceedings for the next 25 years. It is a State's policy with a long-term vision. The Environment Ministry, External Trade Ministry, Economy Development Ministry, Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry and the National Planning Department contributed to its design and worked together with the private sector, the Academy, the communities and other actors related to the country's forest sector. Through the Plan, Colombia is attending a responsibility of strategic importance for its population well-being: the natural or planted forest is a first order regulator of different natural phenomenon that are affecting the planet's stability. This is the reason why the forest theme is a principal matter of diverse world conventions. Such is the case of the United Nations Conventions on Climate Change, Biologic Diversity, Struggle against Deserting and Drought, so as, the Special Intergovernmental Group for Forests Open Composition (1FF), and the United Nations Forum for Forests (UNFF).
