Controlling white leaf disease (WLD) incidence of sugarcane by heat therapy.
An experiment was conducted to find out the effect of heat therapy on germination and white leaf disease incidence of sugarcane at Sreepur, Gazipur, Bangladesh. Germination was significantly increased in moist hot air treatment (MHAT) treated plot. No white leaf disease was found in MHAT at 54C for 4h, 3h and 2.30h treated settlings. Similarly, millable cane and cane yield were positively affected by heat therapy. Heat therapy with MHAT and hot water treatment (HWT) performed better in increasing sugarcane yield compared to control.
