Field growth of Hevea brasiliensis clones produced by in vitro culture.

Three trials were set up in Cote d'Ivoire to analyse the growth of 6yearold microcuttings produced from seedlings, 45 monthold somatic embryos of clones PB 260 and PR 107 and 31monthold microcuttings of IRCA 18. The results showed that in vitroplantlets produced by somatic embryogenesis or microcutting consistently grew as well as if not better than conventional budded plants. The differences were analysed according to mother plant juvenility, clonal characteristics and the stage of plant development at the time of planting.
