Evaluation on sustainability of land use for rubber in rural development.
The suitability of sustainable land management practices to be applied to rubber plantations in Malaysia is discussed. Sustainability indicators are outlined and listed. It is concluded that rubber is a suitable crop for sustainable agricultural development in high population areas in the humid tropics. In particular its suitability for smallholder farmers is noted.
