Clones ou semences? Résultats d'essais comparatifs et multilocaux

In West Africa, the IRCC provides as planting material clones (as cuttings) obtained from mass selection or seeds obtained from parents tested for progeny quality. Trials carried out in the Ivory Coast and in Togo showed that seedling yields were lower than those of clones. In drier regions, the performance of clones was better than that of seedlings. Some clones (e.g. A2 and 461) are high and regular yielders whereas others are irregular or not adapted (e.g. 197 and 126) to marginal zones. It is suggested that performance and region should be taken into account before considering the cost of planting material
