Bended tap-roots of coffee and cocoa seedlings
By uprooting some coffee seedlings which showed a stunted growth in the nursery bed at Kaliwining experiment station, it had been proved that 15 of the 17 plants uprooted, showed bended tap roots. The same phenomena were observed on cocoa seedlings; of 6 stunted trees uprooted, all shwed abnormal tap roots. These experiences indicate that stunted growth is frequently accompanied by bended or abnormal tap root.
