Role de quelques facteurs dans la formation et la germination des oospores chez le Phytophthora palmivora Butl.
Several physical or physico-chemical factors influence the rate of sexual reproduction in interfertile strains of Phytophthora palmivora. Optimal conditions of temperature and medium pH are, for these strains, 22-26 centigrade grade and pH 5,5-6,0. When light is provided to the cultures, under controlled conditions of energetic flow, the rate of sexual reproduction lessens as a function of the intensity. Short waves radiations are more able to induce this inhibition than long waves ones. As the Bunsen-Roscoe law of reciprocity seems to be relevant, it is possible that sexual reproduction will be under the dependency of a photolabile substance. Light allows also to break the dormancy in oospores of Phytophthora palmivora. Short waves radiations are the most active in this phenomenon. The authors propose a method providing germination rates high enough for genetical studies of Phytophthora palmivora or, perhaps, other species
