Estudios fisiológicos sobre la floración del cafeto en las condiciones de India del Sur. 8. Número de yemas florales en relación al almidón de la madera de las ramas fruteras

A study was carried out during March, 1976, on the number of flower buds formed in relation to starch index of wood in secondary and tertiary branches of Coffea arabica L. cv 'S795' plants. There was a highly significant (1% level) positive correlation between the total number of flower buds and the carbohydrate (starch) reserve in secondary as well as tertiary branches. The role(s) of external and internal factors other than starch indices in the formation of flower buds and their number are discussed in the light of existing knowledge on floral physiology in arabica coffe plants.
