Problems and implications of new economic development models for agriculture, food, the environment and rural poverty. Draft document for discussion
The purpose of the present document is to encourage reflection on the need to identify and analyze the role played by agriculture in the current economic model, and on how to contribute to reappraising it, harnessing its current and future contributions to all of society. It is divided into five points: economic development models and the role of agriculture in Latin America and the Caribbean; the expanded agriculture; agriculture in the macroeconomic context; the vision and mission of agriculture for the year 2000; and towards the collective construction of a renewed approach to agriculture and the rural environment.
