2015: new users as well as more accesses and visits

The SIDALC Alliance continues to go from strength to strength, as demonstrated by the number of accesses in 2015, which reached a new record of 21 million pages viewed. There were also 3.4 million sessions on the platform and 2.6 million unique users, an increase of 34% over 2014.

The number of countries currently involved is 22, with 213 libraries in 175 Latin American and Caribbean agricultural institutions sharing 345 databases containing more than 2.8 million records, including 252,991 digital resources, 10% more than the previous year.
Under the services provided by the community of information specialists on the platform, 49,730 documents and/or articles were requested and distributed to support research in the sector.
In addition, four information centers were established offering specialized resources on territorial (area-based) management and family farming, the Central American dry corridor, local knowledge, and climate change, which can be accessed via the specialized resources section of the website.
This year will see improvements in indexing processes, which we are coordinating with the Google team, with the aim of making the publications generated by our institutions more visible across the globe.
Another project scheduled for 2016 is the migration of the platform to the cloud, which entails changing the website and modifying the present structure. We are also continuing to develop and promote the AgriPerfiles platform, which lists sector experts and provides their contact details.
We wish to express our appreciation to this great community of agricultural sector information specialists whose commitment and desire to collaborate make it possible to share and make available new research from their institutions designed to improve the well-being of the inhabitants of our countries.
